"Everybody Deserves the Opportunity to Learn How to Swim."
- Coach Lu
Welcome! We Are So Glad You Are Here!
At Lu’s Swim School, we believe that swimming is one of the most important life skills to learn. That is why we have worked hard to develop a swim school that meets your child where they are.
Our qualified instructors bring passion, patience, and professionalism to every class. Each instructor is trained to work with all skill levels and ages, from babies and toddlers to older children and even adults. Our instructors are also experts in water safety awareness, ensuring that your child learns more than just how to swim—they learn how to be safe in and around water.
We offer a range of swim lessons, including private lessons, semi private lessons, and group classes. Whether your child needs focused attention or thrives in a social setting, we have a program to match.
Why Choose Lu's Swim School?
Our kids swimming lessons are the heart of our swim school. These lessons focus on teaching essential skills such as holding breath underwater, floating, and swim strokes such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and flip turns. From learning to blow bubbles to mastering flip turns, our classes are comprehensive and enjoyable. Our skilled instructors break the skills down step-by-step to make sure your child feels comfortable and learns at their own pace.
We understand that every child learns at their own pace. That’s why our classes are grouped by age and skill level, ensuring your child feels comfortable in the water and is placed in an environment best suited to their development.
Safety First
Water is fun but it’s important to know your boundaries and have respect for the water. We firmly believe every child and adult has the ability to become a swimmer and that starts with water safety.
Water safety is our top priority at Lu’s Swim School. Our qualified instructors teach children essential safety skills, such as floating, treading water, and understanding pool rules. We emphasize water safety awareness during every session to ensure children are well-prepared to swim safely in any environment—whether at a pool, lake, or beach.
By the time your student reaches Level 4 they will have the skills they need to independently jump into the deep end of the pool and swim safely back to the wall, tread water for 30 seconds, know what to do if stuck in a current, and how to wear a lifejacket.
Our Instructors Make the Difference
At Lu’s Swim School, our instructors are more than just teachers—they’re mentors and motivators. Every instructor is qualified, trained, and passionate about helping students learn to swim. They are skilled at identifying each student’s learning style and tailoring lessons accordingly.
Our staff undergoes continuous training in stroke development, child psychology, and emergency response to ensure the highest level of care and instruction.
Swimming is not just a fun activity—it’s a lifelong skill that promotes fitness and safety. Whether your child is preparing for a swim team, learning the basics, or developing advanced strokes, our instructors provide the foundation for a lifetime of swimming.
A Place for Everyone
Lu’s Swim School welcomes children of all ages and abilities. From babies and toddlers to older children and even adults, our diverse programs are designed to support swimmers at every stage. We recognize the importance of inclusion and adapt our teaching methods to suit individual needs.
Our swim classes are designed for a wide range of skill levels. From beginners just learning to float, to advanced swimmers working on stroke refinement and flip turns, we have something for everyone. Children progress through levels as they master new skills, with each level building on the last.
Progress is closely monitored, and parents receive regular updates on how their children are doing. This helps families stay engaged and supports students in achieving their goals.

What Level Am I?
What's Happening at Lu's Swim School?
Meet Coach Lu!
Growing up in Washington, I swan for and learned from renowned coach Jay Benner (club coach of Olympians Nathan Adrian and Dana Kirk). I went on to swim at Whitworth University where I was an All-American and placed second in the state of Washington in the 100 Butterfly. Swimming at this level was an incredible experience. I now serve as a swim coach and a teacher for the WLWV (West Linn/Wilsonville) and LOSC (Lake Oswego) school districts.
Swimming has played a huge role as it saved my life. I learned how to swim when I was 7 years old and joined swim team to become a stronger swimmer. Even though I was a good swimmer, I realized quickly the ocean is not a swimming pool. As I found myself being swept further away from shore, I remembered I was taught not to fight the current but swim parallel to the current to find shore. Water is fun but it’s important to know your boundaries and have respect for the water. I am grateful for those lessons and firmly believe every child and adult has the ability to become a swimmer.
Learning how to swim is a life skill, one of the most important skills one can learn. At Lu’s swim school, our philosophy is to teach our students to overcome their fears by believing and encouraging them through our teaching methods. As confidence and belief grows, skills improve and this pattern creates success that will surprise and inspire you. We teach lifelong enjoyment of water but also teach the important safety skills and healthy boundaries as there are many different bodies of water.
I take each of my junior coaches under my wing and teach them not only how to be the best swim instructor but also to be responsible, dependable and respectful young adults. I hand select each instructor and make sure they are properly trained in teaching water safety and also understands the foundations of child development.
It is truly our passion to teach, encourage and believe in our students. Our methods were developed over 25 years of experience. We have found the sweet formula that works! Our families see progress is a short amount of time!
I hope I get the chance to spend some time with your family this season.
